Google Apps - Restrict Site Creation to an Organisation

Google Apps for Work, Education and Nonprofits offers organisation-level restrictions on Google Sites creation: these instructions tell you how you can allow selected organisational units to create sites.

Instructions

  1. Sign in to your Google Apps Admin Panel
    https://admin.google.com

  2. Open Apps, then Google Apps, and then Sites

  3. Use the three-dot menu drop-down at the top right and turn Sites
    ON for everyone

Note: This can take 24 hours to take effect

  4. Open Sharing settings

  5. Select your overall domain (e.g. Steegle.com in the example)

  6. In the Site Creation section set
users at [domain name] cannot create sites

Note: This stops everyone in the domain creating sites

Don't forget: use the Save changes button at the bottom-right corner

  7. Select the Organisation that you want to allow sharing for

  8. In the Site Creation section set
users at [organisation name] can create sites

    Don't forget:
use the Save changes button at the bottom-right corner

Note: This can take 24 hours to take effect
