Google Sites - Link to Files and Attachments

Google Sites offers the ability to upload files and attachments, but did you know you can link to them easily?  Use the search facility in the link tool and it finds uploaded files and attachments as well as pages.


  1. Type the text you want to be the link.

  2. Select the text (click and drag with the mouse or hold down the Shift key and use the cursor keys to make the selection) you typed to be the link.

  3. Use the Link button.

  4. In the search box type a part of the file name you want to link to or its extension (e.g. pdf) and use the Search pages button.

  5. Choose the file or attachment you want to link to and use the OK button.

That's it, you're done!  Here's an example of a link to an image (png) file.
