Add +1 Button to Sidebar

1. Sign in to your Google Site
   

2. Use the More button then Manage Site (alternatively you can use the keyboard shortcut g then m) and go to Site Layout

3. At the bottom of the Sidebar section use the Add a sidebar item link

4. Once the Choose a new page element dialogue box appears scroll to find the +1 button and use the Add button

5. Move the the place-holder for the button up or down, if you wish (click and drag with your mouse)

6. Use the Save button (next to Manage Site) and your +1 button will appear in the side bar

Notes on Google Sites +1 Button Sidebar usage

When you add a +1 button to the site sidebar then Google Sites will make it appear automatically on all pages.  When a visitor uses the +1 button it will +1 the page the visitor uses it on and not just +1 the site.  You cannot specify the format of the +1 button but you can in the page content version of the +1 button, see below.

Add +1 Button to Page Content Area

1. Sign in to your Google Site and navigate to the page you want to add the +1 button to

2. Use the Edit Page button (alternatively use the keyboard shortcut e) then the Insert menu and choose +1 button

3. Once the Insert +1 button dialogue box appears choose whether to Show the click count and the Size, then use the Save button and the +1 button will appear.

4. If you click on the +1 button while in the editor the +1 button's attributes pop-up appears
   

   
   and you can choose to alter its:

• Properties  

• Alignment (left, centre or right)  

• Wrapping (wrap or no wrap)  

• or Remove the +1 button

5. Use the Save button (top-right) to save the page and your page will display the +1 button.

Availability

You can get this feature now on stand-alone/consumer/personal Google Sites with their visibility set to Public and Google Apps domains with the Rapid Release track enabled.
