Transfer Site Ownership in Drive
- Open Google Drive and find the site you wish to transfer ownership of (either navigate or search for type:site)
- Select the site you wish to transfer and open the Sharing permissions and add the user you want to transfer the site to
- In the sharing permissions change the newly added user from an editor to Is the owner and then Save changes
- Confirm you wish to transfer ownership with the Yes button
The site will remain in its location and the owner can move it to My Drive or a Team Drive and find it in search.

G Suite does not allow to choose an owner to someone outside of your G Suite domain. You can use Shared Drives to do this instead.

- Open Google Drive and find the site you wish to transfer ownership of (either navigate or search for type:site)
- Select the site you wish to transfer and Move to a Shared Drive that's been shared with you by a G Suite user
- Confirm you wish to move to the Shared Drive and transfer ownership to the G Suite domain with the OK button

- The user moving the site out of the Shared Drive needs Manager membership
- Only G Suite Business or Enterprise offers Shared Drives
- Published sites need republished and the published URL will change to incorporate the new G Suite domain.

Cannot Transfer - Copy Site Instead
If you cannot make a Shared Drive and need to transfer the site copy the site instead:
- Add the user you want to be owner as an Editor to the site - see: Sharing and Publishing.
- The user can then sign in and copy the site - see: Copy Site.
- The user will be the owner of the copy of the site (note: the original site still exists and is not connected to the new copy).
