Announcement Banner - new Google Sites

Add an announcement banner to your new Google Site to highlight important information and announcements

Show an Announcement banner

  1. Use the Settings (looks like a cog/gear) near the Publish button.

  2. Choose the Announcement banner option.

  3. Enable the Show banner option (blue and on the right is enabled, grey and on the left is disabled) .

  4. Choose your Banner colour or specify the exact colour by hex code.

  5. Complete all the announcement details:

    • Enter some text for the announcement Message.

    • Enter some text for the announcement Button label.

    • Choose a page to Link to or enter a web address (URL).

    • Choose if you want the link to Open in a new tab

  6. Choose the Visibility you want for the announcement:

    • Home page only

    • All pages

  7. Use the Publish button to make the announcement banner live on the site.

Notes

  • This new feature started rolling out on 22 April 2020 and will take 15 days to get to all sites, so you may not see it on your site yet.

  • The banner appears at the very top of your site, above all the content.

  • To edit what the banner says just alter the Message and Button Label and to remove it disable the Show banner slider.
