Add favicon - new Google Sites

Add a favicon to your new Google Site so it can be see in visitors' web browser tabs, bookmarks and favourites

Add a favicon to new Google Sites

  1. Use the three-dot More button (left of the Publish button).
  2. Choose the Add favicon option.
  3. Either Upload an image from your computer or Select and image by URL or choose from Google Search, Google Photos or Google Drive.
  4. Once uploaded or chosen you need to Publish your site to display your favicon on the published site.

Note

  • If you do not upload a square image then Google Sites will add padding automatically.
  • It can take a little time for the favicon to appear on the published site.
  • If you want transparency in your favicon you need to upload a PNG with transparency in the image.

Availability

The add favicon feature was released to G Suite Rapid Release domains on 13 March 2018 and Scheduled Release two weeks later. Both rapid release and and schedule release take 15 days to rollout.

Delete your favicon

  1. Use the three-dot More button (left of the Publish button).
  2. Choose the Edit favicon option.
  3. Use the trash can/rubbish bin icon at the top right of the image to delete your favicon
  4. Once deleted you need to Publish your site to display the default new Google Sites favicon appear.

Change your favicon

  1. Delete your favicon (see instructions above)
  2. Add the new favicon you want to display (see instructions above)
