Moving off Dropbox to Google Drive wasn't just a cost-cutting exercise for D'E Capital. Under Victor Hugo Ferreira Pérez's leadership, it was a business efficiency decision, part of running the company on a more modern, capable platform.
The problem was getting there. Previous attempts, both in-house and through other vendors, had failed, leaving missing files and unreliable results. This wasn't a strategy problem. A migration of this kind isn't something an in-house team or a generalist provider does every day, and without that specialist depth, things get missed.
On top of that, finding a partner capable of this level of work was genuinely hard to come by in the Chilean market.

Regulatory security. As a listed entity, D'E Capital operates under special regulatory controls, so the migration had to meet a higher security bar than a typical commercial move.
Nuance, not just language. Victor operates comfortably in business level English, but the fine technical detail of a file migration, including permissions, folder structures, and edge cases, carries a lot of nuance that is easy to lose even between fluent speakers.
A hard deadline. The migration had to be completed in record time, ahead of a change to Dropbox's licensing terms.

Dropbox to Google Drive migration
The migration project delivered significant efficiency and security gains. Tens of terabytes of legacy data were streamlined into just over 10TB of active data, reducing storage costs even before the transfer began. The migration itself was completed on a strict deadline with virtually no errors, and the client independently verified both the migrated data and incremental updates before providing final approval.
Once verification was complete, all legacy Dropbox access was revoked, ensuring full compliance with the client’s regulatory security requirements throughout the process.
